When Maryland resident Tony learned from his city’s municipal office about upcoming emergency home repair plans for residents, he didn’t hesitate to sign up. With an expansive lawn, his sewer service line stretched approximately 100 feet to connect his home to the city’s sewer mains, making the plan a practical choice. “I’ve been here at the house for just over 40 years,” he said.
“I’m a Day-One customer,” Tony said.
That was ten years ago. Over the next decade, he would have the opportunity to test his emergency repair plans.
“We get backups annually in the sewer line,” he said.
In September, Tony had another back up, but, by now, he was familiar with the procedure and gave HomeServe’s Chattanooga, Tennessee-based operations center a call.
“I know I’m going to get good service,” he said “I’m instantly identified, and (the agents) are sympathetic and empathetic. I don’t have to tell them the same thing three times. I feel that they’re going the extra steps. I’d give it five stars out of five stars.”
Since Tony was dealing with a basement backup this time, he made the call to HomeServe and Around the Clock Plumbing was dispatched to unclog the line.
“They had good communication, good everything,” he said. “They got (the line) open again.”
However, while cleaning the sewer line, a crack in the pipe was discovered and cleaning it out by water jetting it would threaten to blow the entire pipe apart. A 15-foot portion of the line needed to be replaced, and if Tony hadn’t enrolled in Exterior Sewer Line repair plan, it would have cost him more than $3,400.
After the broken portion of the line was replaced, it was safely jetted.
“It’s as clean as a whistle now,” Tony said.
