Grants will address challenges from the coronavirus pandemic

Norwalk, Conn. (August 4, 2020) – HomeServe USA, a leading provider of home repair solutions, launched its next request for applications for the  HomeServe Cares Foundation  “Caring for Community” grant program. The initiative awards grants to non-profits and municipalities to support community-based programs.

A recent study released by the  National League of Cities  of 1,110 municipalities across the country found that the unexpected expense of acquiring personal protective equipment (PPE) is one of the many COVID-19 related financial challenges that has hit communities hard. Recognizing the significant financial impact the coronavirus has had on communities and families across the nation, this round of grants will focus on projects that address this need for food banks, food service agencies supporting K-12 students, community center-based food programs, and shelters. The emphasis of these projects should be in one or more of the following areas:

  • Replenishing personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Retrofitting facilities with barriers to better protect staff and clients
  • Restocking food and household supplies used for clients, such as toilet paper, wipes, sanitizers and more

“The coronavirus pandemic continues to have an unprecedented impact on the daily lives of every community and American across the country. These effects are most acutely felt by those who rely on the support systems provided by local governments and non-profits,” explained John Kitzie, CEO of HomeServe USA. “HomeServe will award up to five grants – the most grants we’ve given in a single round – so that we can help as many people as possible during these extremely challenging times.”

Up to five grants valued at $10,000 each will be awarded. Applications, which are now being accepted and are due by September 1, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET, will be assessed based on impact, execution, and innovation. Winners will be announced on or before September 15, 2020. An application and information are available at  www.HomeServeCommunity.com.

Since launching the Caring for Community grant program in April 2019, the HomeServe Cares Foundation has awarded 11 grants to organizations across the U.S. The most recent round of grants was awarded to organizations in Livonia, Michigan and Pasadena, Texas, whose efforts focused on enhancing local parks, community centers, and other public spaces.
