Brenda M. of Minnesota had a sweltering problem this past August.
It was a hot August day in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and local resident Brenda M. was just finishing up some yardwork. Her favorite part of that process was coming back into her home to a gust of cool air. But on that day, something felt different.
“When I walked back into the house, there was no cold air to be found,” said Brenda. “I went right over to the HVAC control on the wall and saw the temperature in the house was high, and that something was very wrong.”
Immediately, Brenda ventured to the basement to check out the system and saw water pooling on top of and around the air conditioning unit. Luckily for her, she had enrolled in a repair plan by HomeServe in partnership with Xcel HomeSmart that covered air conditioning repairs.
After a call to HomeServe’s operations center, Veteran Services, a local and reliable HVAC contractor was dispatched to Brenda’s home. From there, she said, the repair process was smooth as could be.
“When the technician arrived, he was phenomenal. He could immediately tell that my unit’s blower motor needed to be replaced,” said Brenda. “I was concerned, because it was a 100-degree day outside, but he assured me that they had the part in their shop, and I wouldn’t need to stay elsewhere for the night.”
Sure enough, after a few hours, Brenda’s air conditioning unit was blowing cold air again.
“It was so glorious and freezing cold in my house after they repaired the motor – I couldn’t believe what a fabulous job he did,” said Brenda. “It’s nice when someone does what they tell you they will do, there’s nothing better.”
The air conditioning repair plan, offered in partnership with Xcel Energy, that covered Brenda’s blower motor is one of 12 plans that she’s currently enrolled in through HomeServe. Several years ago, she felt the costs of homeownership were mounting and wanted to protect herself in the event any of her home’s systems or appliances unexpectedly failed. So, she came across Xcel Energy’s HomeSmart program through online research. Now that program is being administered by HomeServe.
“It was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made, and I love HomeServe for that,” said Brenda. “To feel that relief during a heat wave – I wanted to give you all a big hug.”
