Red Boiling Springs Residents’ High-Water Bill Resolved by ServLine

Ken, a Red Boiling Springs resident, had already moved out of his home and was on the verge of selling it when a large water bill hit his mailbox.

The $400 outstanding water bill from Red Boiling Springs Utilities could complicate things because the bill arrived within a short time of receiving an offer on his home. So, he made a call to his utility to sort the issue out.

Although he wasn’t aware of it, his local utility had partnered with ServLine to provide leak protection services for their customers. For a small monthly fee, Ken and his neighbors were protected against unexpected and unusually high water bills caused by faulty plumbing. Once a leak was identified and repaired, ServLine averaged out the customer’s bills over the prior 12 months and paid the overage up to the program benefit, saving customers hundreds of dollars in high water bills and shielding utilities from bad debt.

He hadn’t noticed a water leak at his home, but, unfortunately for Ken, this was because he’d had a running toilet. This meant that there were no tell-tale puddles of water or even a hint of moisture to indicate there was a problem. Instead, all the water went right back down the toilet, easily missed although the house was for sale and extra attention was being paid to anything that could become an issue.

“I was referred to ServLine by my local utility after a leak was causing sky-high water bills,” he said.

“I called and was provided the directions for formal submission via email,” Ken said. “I submitted (a claim) and everything was approved.”

Luckily, the repair and resolution of the outstanding water bill were handled quickly, allowing Ken to close that chapter without any hassles.

“Overall, it was a positive experience that offset an expensive burden and made me grateful that our small local utility had partnered with ServLine to provide that,” Ken said.
