When Lynda T. from Tyler, Texas, was hospitalized for a brief period, her daughter diligently checked on her house to ensure its safety. Everything was fine until one day when her daughter entered the house and immediately detected the smell of gas on the first floor. She called an emergency plumber, who discovered that the appliances were not receiving gas and suspected a leak near the water heater. They promptly shut off the gas and awaited Lynda’s return to decide on the next steps.

Arriving home from the hospital, Lynda remembered that she had signed up for a gas line service plan with HomeServe through CenterPoint Energy a few years earlier in response to a flyer the utility sent to its customers.

She contacted HomeServe, and they quickly dispatched American Plumbing, a reliable local contractor, to assess the situation. The technician found that in addition to the leak near the water heater, the exterior gas line from the meter was damaged in several places and needed complete replacement.

Lynda was relieved that she had the foresight to enroll in the gas line plan, which ended up saving her over $5,500. The Gas Line Plus plan from HomeServe, costing less than $4.00 per month through CenterPoint Energy in Tyler, proved to be an excellent investment.

“When I got home and heard about the problem, I realized this is exactly why I signed up for HomeServe,” Lynda said.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with both the contractor, American Plumbing, and HomeServe,” she added. “The plumber replaced the entire line in just two days, left no mess, and kept me informed throughout the process. This is the kind of service everyone should have – I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

Now that the service has proven its worth, she plans to recommend the program to her friends and family.

“I am so thankful to HomeServe for doing exactly what they promised,” Lynda said. “As a homeowner, you never expect something like this to happen, but it can. My advice to anyone would be, for such a low price, why not?”
