HARWINTON >> A new program is being introduced to Harwinton residents by the Water Pollution Control Authority that will provide low cost, warranty protection for sewer lines of homeowners.

The program, provided through the National League of Cities and administered by Service Line Warranties of America, will give residents economic relief when problems and large expenses occur with sewer lines. Warranty protection under the program will help cover the expenses of a broken sewer line.

“It’s a terrific program for residents to be able to protect themselves from an unwanted repair cost to their water service line or sewer line fail,” said Brad Carmichael, Vice President of Business Development for Service Line Warranties of America.

“Many citizens are unaware that they are responsible for the sewer lines that go from their houses to the point of utility maintenance. If these lines break or leak, repairs can be very expensive,” said Sal Bonola, WPCA Chairman. The cost for the warranty protection of the new program is $5.25 per month and will cover sewer lines repairs up to $4,000.

Some of the benefits of the program is that it will cover the large expenses of a potential broken line and is offered at no cost to the town.
